Don Imus in hot water for racial comments

I know what her point was and I have to disagree. The dichotomy here is that the blacks talk about equal treatment and turn around and treat whites exactly the way they do not want to be treated.

Interesting that this makes front page but there was no mention of Reagan's call for the killing of the truthers and Mark Dice. Huh!

As a beautiful black man myself, I have listened to Imus in the morning since I was around 7. I'm 40 something now. He's been fired and hired at so many stations it should be like his job. Get the job, make a comment about someone and announce he'll be on a new station tomorrow. HE'S TALK RADIO!! THAT'S WHAT WE PAY HIM TO DO!!! HEY Imus, maybe the other nationalities are upset because you don't make fun of them. IMUS - I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YA!! I will listen and laugh at your TALK RADIO show forever. I think of your shows, your political wit and commitment to children. You take great care of yourself......YOU WHITE WRINKLED UP, FAKE HAIRED, CONTACT WEARING, LIPOSUCTIONED CARNIVAL EXHIBIT!! I heard the exchange this morning and it was clear that Imus was being sarcastic. The whole jist of the conversation had to do with Pacman's desire to drop his nickname because he felt it would remind people of his illegal conduct. Anyway, like anyone who follows sports, Imus knows darn well that Pacman Jones is an African-American so his comment was actually a play on the stereotype, not an example thereof.

Why can Whoopi Goldberg go on The View everyday and talk about how bad the blacks are treated when she is making a generalization and not speaking from her personal experience. She continually promotes Obama in the "Black Light". Today she was at Caesar's Palace and commented about the black gladiators opposite her: "Why are my brothers over there?" If Barbara Walters had said "Why are my brothers over there?" and pointed to the white gladiators then it would have been a bigger issued that Don Imus's comment. It's called reverse discrimination. It's also called "What's good for the goose is not good for the gander". The reason the wound doesn't heel is because everyday someone salts it. We need to stop all forms of hate, racism, and most of it is coming from the television.

Can they just fire this man already? It's not like he hasn't made his pension. Then he can make these asinine, insensitive, racist comments sitting on his porch all day and no one will be forced to listen to him. Isn't there a more intelligent, open-minded, worldly person that can do his show? Of course there is.

What is the point here? This man is either (1) a racist (2) an egotist (3) a businessman or (4) all of the above....Stop paying attention to his idiotic rants and he will soon fade away....

I gave him the benefit of the doubt with the first comment but this shows me Don Imus is an old shriveled up bigot. All these righteous people that are commenting on how blacks act and how bad we are, really! There are bad, trifling white people out there that do dirt just like any other race. There are white people that sell drugs, do not take care of their children, steal, etc. But since Don Imus never brings those issues to the forefront, I guess he is an expert only on black behavior. I am very sure if there was a black public personality making negative comments about whites, there would be a backlash like you would not believe. All these people that have made these stupid comments are people that have menial jobs and cannot do any better for themselves than what they are currently doing. I guarantee if these people were honest about their personal situations, you would probably find out they have had limited education, limited training for a job to support themselves and make the same comments as Mr Imus to make themselves feel better. Grow up!!!!!

I find it interesting that so many black youth deride getting an education as "trying to act white", and then are able to convince themselves later in life that their failure to get ahead was due to racism.

I absolutely agree with you! I use to love Whoopi. But lately all she can do is be tolerant of only black issues. What she doesn't understand is that with every "black issue" there is a "white issue" that has been displaced. Neither Joy, Elizabeth, or Barbara want to speak up and really say what "white America" feels. They are too worried about their own fall-outs. The View is only "the view" when it is politically correct.

Thank God I don't listen to him, but I'm being bombarded with dumb news stories covering this racist trash and it needs to stop

OMG if people take Imus or ,anyone who truly ISN"T an influence on how you feel, seriously, you have the problem not imus. Imus is a nut but our country is full of nuts. Most of them yes happen to be in the public eye. I just get sick and tired of Sharpton thinking it's his duty to save everyone. If you are worried people like Imus will influence your children and they'll grow up raciest or feel they have no way out but crime, then perhaps you need to spend more time with your children.

Why are so many of you feeling that you can't speak up about black people without being called a racist. Why not embrace your racism, proudly? It's OK to be racist, really. It shouldn't stop you from saying "you people" or "I was taught to be racist by black people" or "blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crimes." You are drawing attention to a group of people by pointing out the color of their skin. That's racist. And it's OK. Why not do what blacks do when they neutralize the word "@!$%#" and make it their own: "nigga." You racists could feel more comfortable expressing your racist views by calling each other "bigot" in a kind of white empowerment way. Sort of new and interesting. At least white supremacists have the guts to tout their own superiority, without whining that they have been somehow muzzled becacuse they might be called "racist." So embrace your racism, and be proud of it, because it's going to be one of the last things you will have left to hold onto when the 30% of the electorate with whom you agree will be swept out of office en masse this November.

I am white, by the way, and ashamed of it. Ashamed to be an American too, most of the time.

Imus should have been removed from the airwaves permanently after the Virginia incident, this second opportunity for him proved the point. He should now be banned from radio. The guy shows ignorance for doing it again. There are moments in our professional lives we need to use some pure and simple common sense, he apparently has none to use. Get racism under control in our airwaves and it will help bring unity back to America
